This Privacy Statement is here to explain how Photo & Moto (that's "we," "us," or "our"), a hobbyist publication run from Finland, handles information. We want to be really clear about how we use publicly available info on public figures and what data we might collect from you, our website visitors. We're committed to being open, respecting your privacy, and operating fully in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Finland's own Data Protection Act.
What We're All About
Photo & Moto is a passion project dedicated to sharing news, analysis, and commentary, especially about sports figures and all things related to motorsports. Our main goal is to bring you interesting and informative content while always sticking to ethical journalistic practices.
The Information We Use and Where We Get It
As a hobbyist publisher, our articles and posts are built on information that's already out there in the public domain about public figures like athletes, celebrities, or politicians. We gather this from public sources, including:
Official statements: Think press releases from sports clubs, federations, or the public figures themselves.
Reputable news sources: We look at what established and credible news organizations have already published.
Public social media accounts: Posts, comments, and profiles from public figures on platforms like X (Twitter), Instagram, or Facebook that anyone can see.
Public records: This includes things like publicly available statistics or biographies.
Public events: What we observe and learn at public gatherings like matches, press conferences, or appearances.
Just to be clear, we don't actively collect personal data directly from individuals through our website beyond what's needed for the site to run (like comments) or for basic website analytics.
How We Use This Information in Our Content
The info we gather from public sources is solely used to create our content, which means:
News and analysis: Bringing you factual accounts and our take on events involving public figures.
Commentary and opinions: Sharing our thoughts and perspectives on relevant topics.
Adding context: Using past public information to help you understand current events better.
Making sure it's accurate: We cross-reference info from several public sources to ensure our publications are spot-on.
We never use this information for things like direct marketing, creating commercial profiles, or anything unrelated to our hobbyist publishing.
How We Use AI in Our Content
You might be interested to know that we sometimes use Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to help us out with content creation. But don't worry, it's always with a human touch and strong ethical guidelines:
AI as an assistant: AI can help us with first drafts, summarizing info, brainstorming ideas, or just tidying up grammar and style.
Research buddy: AI tools can quickly sift through public info to help us find key facts and trends.
Always human-checked: This is super important: any content generated or assisted by AI is always thoroughly reviewed, fact-checked, and edited by a human editor before it goes live. We're committed to making sure our content is accurate, fair, and original. We just don't publish AI content without our human eyes on it first.
Battling bias and errors: We know AI can sometimes make mistakes or pick up biases from its training data. Our human verification process is there to catch and fix these issues, keeping our content truthful and balanced.
Your data is safe: When we use AI, we make sure that none of your personal data collected directly from our website visitors (like your comments) is ever fed into these AI models in a way that could mess with your privacy or break GDPR rules. Our AI use is purely about processing public information for our journalistic purposes.
Our Approach to Photos and Our Own Content
Photos are a huge part of what we do at Photo & Moto, and we take copyright and ethics seriously:
Our own photos: A lot of the pictures and other content you see on www.digiai.fi are our very own creations, taken or written by the Photo & Moto team.
Free-to-use material: We also use images and other materials that are clearly in the public domain or openly licensed (like Creative Commons Zero) for free use.
Properly licensed material: For any other photos or content, we always get explicit licenses or permission from the original owners (photographers, stock photo agencies, etc.) before we use them. This ensures we're legally in the clear.
Our original stuff is copyrighted: All the original content we create at Photo & Moto – our photos, articles, analyses – is our intellectual property and protected by copyright laws in Finland and internationally. Please don't use, copy, share, or adapt our original content for any private or public purpose (including putting it on other websites or using it in your own projects) without getting our written permission first.
Want to use something? Just ask! If you'd like to use any of our original content, including photos, simply send us a request at photoandmoto@gmail.com. We'll look at each request individually.
Always attributed: No matter where a photo or piece of content comes from, we always do our best to credit the photographer or source where it's required or appropriate.
Data We Might Collect From Website Visitors
When you visit www.digiai.fi, we might gather a small amount of technical data:
How you use the site: This can include your IP address, browser type, operating system, which pages you visited, and when. This is usually collected through standard website tools (like Google Analytics). We try to anonymize this data where possible, and it simply helps us understand how people use our site so we can make it better.
Cookies: Our website might use small files called cookies to improve your Browse experience (for example, by remembering your preferences). You can always manage your cookie settings in your browser.
Comments (if you leave one): If you choose to comment on our articles, we'll collect the info you put in the comment form, plus your IP address and browser details to help us fight spam. An anonymized string from your email address might be sent to the Gravatar service to see if you're using it. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture will be visible next to your comment.
Our Commitment: Data Protection & Ethics
Accuracy is key: We work hard to make sure everything we publish is accurate and thoroughly checked using reliable public sources. If we ever make a mistake, we'll fix it quickly.
Minimizing harm: While public figures' lives are often quite open, we always aim to report responsibly. We try to avoid unnecessary prying into private matters, especially sensitive ones that aren't clearly in the public interest.
Transparency is vital: We're open about where our information comes from, including when and how we use AI tools, all under human supervision.
Respecting copyright: We respect intellectual property. We only use copyrighted material (like images or text excerpts) if we have permission, if it's freely licensed, or if our use falls under Finland's "right to quote" or "fair use" rules. And of course, we always give proper credit. We also actively protect our own copyrighted content.
No commercial sharing: We absolutely do not sell or share any personal data from our website visitors with other companies for commercial reasons.
Your Rights (If You're in Finland/the EU)
Under GDPR and Finnish data protection law, you have certain rights regarding your personal data. Even though we collect very little direct personal data from visitors, these rights still apply to any data we might hold:
Right to see your data: You can ask us for a copy of any personal data we have about you.
Right to fix it: If any personal data we have about you is wrong or incomplete, you can ask us to correct it.
Right to be forgotten: In some cases, you can ask us to delete your personal data. Keep in mind there are exceptions, especially for data used for journalistic purposes where there's a strong public interest.
Right to limit how we use it: You can ask us to limit how we use your personal data in certain situations.
Right to object: You can object to us processing your personal data, especially if it's based on our legitimate interests or for journalistic reasons, and you feel your fundamental rights are more important.
Right to complain: If you think your data protection rights haven't been respected, you can always lodge a complaint with the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman (Tietosuojavaltuutetun toimisto).
